He is known for his supporting and leading roles in both film and television, including "Full Metal Jacket" (1987), "Mystic Pizza" (1988), "Men in Black" (1997), "The Cell" (2000), "The Salton Sea" (2002), "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2001-2011), "Daredevil" (2015-2018), and "Hawkeye" (2021).

D'Onofrio's breakthrough role came in 1987 when he played Private Leonard "Gomer Pyle" Lawrence in Stanley Kubrick's Vietnam War film "Full Metal Jacket". He has since gone on to star in a wide range of films, including "Mystic Pizza" (1988), "Men in Black" (1997), "The Cell" (2000), and "The Salton Sea" (2002). He has also had recurring roles on television series such as "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2001-2011) and "Daredevil" (2015-2018).
